OP, what age group is this you are playing? Maybe it was mentioned but I didn't see.

12U

I think "hiding" her at 2B was the idea. Unfortunately, she gets a lot of balls hit at her.

I shouldn't have picked on the kid so much. Not her fault, she just isn't athletic and doesn't have field sense.

I was more frustrated with the playing time and that is on the coach.

Putting that type of player at 2B is a bad coaching decision. The fact that there are other issues isn't a big surprise.

That said, your options have already been discussed ;)

I love how predictable this board is. I KNEW that my comment would bring out the 2B discussion ;) We all want 5 tool players at every position! It was supposed to be sarcastic and funny!
It is funny because it is true regardless of how folks respond or how smart the decision is.

The dreaded daddy-ball where the coach's DD plays 2B! You gotta hide her somewhere! I love it! You can let it bother you or you can just let it go. If you can't let it go find another team.

This is so true and I don't really get it! We have an awesome 2B and she gets a billion outs in that position. We've been on the daddy ball team with the coach's kid owning 2B and she cost us soooo many outs. It doesn't seem like a very good hiding place.

One truth I have learned in softball and baseball is your worst fielder is going to get the majority of balls, not sure why it works that way.

Please hit it to Sally she can field.

That's so true! DD's team has one kid who can't make a play. Coach put her in right field. First ball was hit right to her, all she had to do was close her glove. But she dropped it. Second ball was a hard grounder and it was right between her legs. Coach moved her to left and the next ball was hit right to her, and she dropped it again. Coach was muttering a lot to himself.

reminds me of a funny story I once heard, can't recall the players involved. But manager told pitcher before the game "Don't worry I'm hiding him at 3B." First batter of the game hits one past 3B. Pitcher turns into the dugout and says "Coach, they found him."

We've had that happen over and over this season. lol

The Dodgers had a really good hitter in the 80's named Pedro Guerrero. He was a well below average fielder that had trouble with routine plays. In an interview they asked him one time what he was thinking out at third base. He said "please don't hit the ball to me". The interviewer wasn't satisfied and asked what else he thought about. He said "please don't hit it to Sax". Steve Sax was a good second baseman for the Dodgers who went through a terrible case of the yipps trying to throw the ball to first base for a period of his career. How many coaches sit in the dugout and during a key at bat are thinking "please don't hit it to XXX"?
