I have accepted it but I finally needed to rant and picked this forum to do it. This wasn't a new thing for this tourney. It's been going on all season. I just reached my boiling point.

    Thanks for reading my rant!
I get it. This is a good place to rant...and get a variety of opinions in return

I've spent most of my time on the coach side of the fence, and am now just a parent. Whether I'm sitting on a bucket or in the bleachers, my kid earns her spot with her play on the field.

Last year, I was accused of being a "daddy ball" coach for the first time by a disgruntled mom. HC and I were amused about that assessment. Among the coaches, my opinion on anything ranked 3rd of 3, and I was never the final word on positions or batting order. Mom had a really hard time seeing how the overall team defense was way better with her kid playing IF rather than C.

Does anybody know where you can purchase these rose colored glasses that it seems many parents have regarding their child (this wasn't directed toward you Hi-tech)? The ones I wear apparently have a filter which only allows me to see all of my DD's faults..

    Pattar,

I can let you borrow mine. They change from rose colored to the most minor fault detecting. Sometimes this occurs within the same at bat, inning etc. I am always amazed at how fast I can go from thinking my DD is a so so rec player to a D1 prospect.

You're DD's not going to get better not playing. I don't care how good 'coaching' the AC/high school coach is giving her at practice. I'm guessing you might be thinking that being on a team that the HS coach is AC is going to help your DD in HS. Never to late to get your DD on another team where she will pay. JMHO.

I actually got into a discussion with a parent about this during our last tournament. I am the AC and my daughter plays SS and hit's cleanup. She's got the best BA and is deserves every rep she gets at SS and I have often told our HC to put her in OF or let her sit sometimes to get others reps at SS. I was a bit shocked at how I could be accused of daddy ball when I have never made lineups or batting order and I don't set practice plans. A bit confusing to me.....

I guess the parent had supposedly heard some things and instead of asking me about it, came to their own conclusion. I think we ended the discussion pretty well with a better understanding and agreement to discuss things, rather than let them fester.

Travel ball can be a pretty stressful environment for all and I can assure you that it's no less stressful for an AC that has a daughter on the team.

Off OP, almost always HC's DD is really good.

Our experience has been hit and miss on that. DD's last 2 teams, HC's DD has been one of the lesser players, and were used appropriately for their abilities.

The dreaded daddy-ball where the coach's DD plays 2B! You gotta hide her somewhere! I love it! You can let it bother you or you can just let it go. If you can't let it go find another team.

We've had two teams with that same scenario. Is 2B the designated spot?

Absolutely! She doesn't have the arm to play on the left side, she can't pitch or catch, you can't put her at 1B because she will drop too many balls, and you can't put her in the outfield because it will be obvious out there that she is slow and doesn't hustle. She has to play 2B.
