Does the HS coach do everything right? No.
Is the HS game strategy good? Usually No.
Is DD happy? Yes.

This is about the same for my DD after her freshman season. I think the coach is a very good coach from the standpoint of teaching the game. His personality leaves a bit to be desired. But the bottom line is DD had a lot of fun and made a lot friends and can't wait for the spring season to start.

Another update. I spoke with the someone at the school that I trust. Our new AD is starting in a few days. During the conversation, it was suggested that I speak with the new AD after he is here for a few days. The person that I spoke with made it apparent that these actions need to be considered during evaluations on if the HC will return.

I really hope my conversation will shed some light on a team that is divided, coaching staff that is failing due to poor leadership and a program that although the numbers of players aren't bad, it is failing. They have not had a winning record in the entire time that this HC has been in place.

To all those that are struggling through the season on teams similar to my DDs team, I seriously feel for you. Since my DDs started playing, we have looked forward to HS ball. To get there and have it ruined by one person's actions is pretty aggravating.

Are you sure you want to do that? Your daughter already quit the team and you have already explained your case and reasons why. I honestly think you may want to let things lie at this point. You have another daughter coming up to play, and you don't want to get a 'reputation' (even an undeserved one).

For your other daughter's sake, I really think the best action going forward for this season is no action.

I am. After speaking to this person, who also works at the school in a position of leadership, they had suggested that I speak with the new AD so all the things that happened can be taken into account by the new AD when deciding to ask coaches to come back next season or not. I am not a let things lie person when I see someone abusing a position.

If this HC is still coaching next year, my DD2 will not be playing. She has already said that she has no desire to play for someone that is willing to treat her sister like he has.

This may be "icing on the cake" to have him removed for next year. After not having a winning season in the 4 years of coaching, losing players from year to year and now having numerous players that will not play for him, plus an Assistant Coach that will not return next year due to the HC, I think there is a lot of reasons for him to not be brought back.

Unfortunately, what you think or the AD thinks may not seem important to a Teacher's Union at times. Often the contracts state only a teacher can coach a sport.

Good luck with your quest. I have seen it happen. When my oldest DD was a freshman the old Varsity HC had to step down for work reasons. The school brought in this "Great" coach for varsity softball. The program would make a deep run in the post season every year and was always ranked one of the top programs in the state. The new coach was a screamer, yeller and insulter. She tried to run a team of high level travel players through fear. It didn't work. The team shut down on her. The team exited the post season on the first game of playoffs to a mediocre, on a good day, team.

There was a steady stream of parents to the AD's office after that. The message was pretty much the same from all of them. The coach needed to go. The kids would not play for her. She was not invited back.

Did any players leave the team after your daughter did? Is there evidence of other players not playing for him?
