I have. Especially one who was coaching his son while he was hitting. He told his son to not listen to me and bunt the ball like I wanted. The son must have told the dad all of our signs. So, he hit the bench. That was my first game here as a baseball coach many years ago. The point was made.

At least in that case, the kid ignored your sign, so it's a little easier. And you send the message that you, not his dad, are the boss during baseball time.

I'd have a harder time benching a kid who is working hard and following the rules because mom wouldn't leave me alone. It may be the right call, but it wouldn't be easy.

Maybe we should start using fundraising money to hire bouncers to physically eject problem parents from the premises.

Unfortunately, I have bounced a few myself in 31 years of coaching. LOL

Boy, I got jumped on.

I do not sign it because it means nothing.

The AD or higher was there has to be a bigger issue, not playing time, that I need to get involved in.

I was not trying to jump on you at all, just wondering why you seemed to have such disdain for something that coaches hand out in almost every organization. Most of the time it is an organizational requirement anyway, handed down to coaches from above. It is done in every sport at almost every level pre college.

Havent read all the responses, but there is a high school team here I have umpired a few games and she has 10 subs. Last year during first round of state tournament I had them for the first time and when I saw how many subs she had I asked how many complaints she had about playing time. Her answer was NONE. She said she made it very clear right at the beginning of the season she would not discuss playing time and any complaints from player or parents about playing time would result in the player being removed from the team. She apparently had 100% backing from her AD, problem solved.

Coaches should not discuss play time and strategies with "any" parent. Problem arise when coaches are not consistent and people can see thru that. There is no way a coach is going to be able to keep 14 or 15 parents happy. The best thing coaches can do is stay consistent on enforcing the standards they set in the beginning of the year.

My DD#3's college hoop team went 34-1 and won the national championship. If that coach had played DD#3 more, the team would have been 35-0. What an idiot.
