Good News for HS Coaches!!

As soon as Spring HS school season ends, all this parent angst will be redirected at travel ball coaches for all manner of atrocities committed. Of course with TB it is easier to bounce from team to team looking for that "perfect" fit.

You have been on here longer then me but the board definitely has about 5 different and distinct cycles.

It is I hate the HS and coach cycle now, ends in about 6 weeks.

From my observation, that cycle never ends.

Fun story: The worst player on our JV team can't do much of anything yet. It took 3 weeks to not be a total danger to herself when catching a thrown ball. I believe everybody has potential, but she's by far the biggest work in progress. At our first JV game last week, her father's girlfriend was apparently there complaining the whole time, talking about how the coaches are terrible (I was coaching a varsity game at the time, so it's unclear whether she only hates the JV coach or if I'm terrible, too). The father's girlfriend even got her to run into an out by screaming at her to run at the wrong time during the game. She must be right about our coaching. We didn't do a good enough job teaching our players to ignore their ignorant family members during games.

I think we have a great mix here and, unfortunately, the bad coaching comments ring true so often that I wonder how those coaches got their jobs. However, I want to point out again that last year, I was the bad coach to a parent. Not the first nor last time that will happen though my time has almost run out. One more year and I'll be out of the game.
