I have seen a few and I think the best example are like the do in football. VOLUNTARY, PLAYER LED so after the game those that want to gather around and say a quick prayer; coach should make it clear this is 100% voluntary and absolutely no shaming or talking down to those that don't participate will be tolerated as a coach i would stand quietly outside the lines while the kids pray in the circle

Can't say I'd "approve" of a prayer circle for many of the reasons stated. I also wouldn't cause a fuss if another team started one and invited us in. We'd probably just go with the flow and try to be respectful. Don't see them in midwest.

I've been part of games where there was a sort of "sportsmanship circle" -- not religious or prayer but good game good luck good health. I like that. At the same time, at very high levels -- like college -- I could see some players not wanting to be too friendly with rivals beyond a good-game line.

There is a time and a place for everything. How about showing courtesy to the teams behind you and getting off the field, packing your trash and getting out of the dugout? Regardless of the context be it praying to god, worshiping Satan and everything in between, any activity after the conclusion of the game is self indulgent and kind of rude.

Marc had a nice post a few years ago with the players line dancing.

No John Leanen song, just players having a good time.

Watching me dance would have caused pain and suffering for everybody involved..might have even necessitated a prayer circle to rid themselves of the horrible
images.

We see them a great deal down south and especially in Georgia. I think it's great. Girls of all religious backgrounds are invited and never seen any pressure.

You wouldn't see pressure generally but as a girl you would feel pressure. That's why they are not appropriate in my opinion. If there's only one girl who doesn't want to do it she will certainly feel pressure.

Yes! Put all the religious stuff aside and this just makes sense. There's probably a team standing outside the dugout waiting for you to get the heck out of there. Hurry up so they can take the field!
