Bucket parents, do you keep a fielders mitt handy?

Do you do all of the practice with your DD, not just pitching, with your catcher's mitt? Along with time behind the plate, I also practice infield drills with my 13 y/o twins.

I ask because my DDP just blew apart my old, very old, fielders mitt. With her increasing speed, it is time I get a catcher's mitt, and I looks like I will be getting a new one. I don't know if I should get my old mitt repaired, get a used fielder's mitt, or do all practice with a catcher's mitt. I would rather spend money on lessons that any more money than necessary on mitts for myself.

You can find some really decent catcher's mitts and fielders gloves made from cheaper leather that feels already broken-in for $40-50. I would rather buy them that way and buy a new one when they wear out (which will probably be longer than you think). I've had a Louisville Slugger catcher's mitt for almost 3 years now and I assumed I'd have to buy a new one every year or so, I just didn't want to break one in. Now for my dd, I'll spend some $$ to get something I know will be good for a while.

I am kind of a glove geek. I have a Rawlings Liberty 34" fastpitch catchers glove for bucket time, a 11.75" Wilson A2k for softball, and a 11.75" Rawlings Heart of the Hide for baseball.

Been using a catchers mitt for past 8-9 years. For what you are doing with your twins, the catchers mitt will suffice.

I have a 12" baseball glove that only comes out at team practices now. For the most part I'm using a catcher's mitt for practicing with my kids.
