So, my kid is a speedy slapper and OF/MI. As she reaches recruiting age, we have been trying to see where she stacks up with other athletes her age. She had a national try out a couple of weeks ago run by pro players who took some times and assessment numbers. I had never seen 5-10-5 numbers before and wanted to see where she stood. This chart was a sweet find, comparing the times of D1 athletes and giving a full breakdown of what an elite time is based on gender and sport.

Just remember, that's the "average" which includes bigger, slower players who hit bombs and/or aren't recruited for their speed. Slappers are held to a higher standard.

That is why I love this chart. It shows the 90%, 80%, 70%, and so on and so forth. So your bigger, bomb hitting players are going to be in the lower percentages. I read it like standardized testing percentages. 90th percentile is the tip top of the spectrum. 40th percentile is below average.

I think the biggest thing at any of these "player combine/tryout/camp" type events is how does she compare with her peers...if there was 50 girls there was she top 5?

Also the only true comparison is within the same event...from event to event there are different people using different timing methods....but at the same event the same standards are used.

If she goes to multiple events and she is always top 10% you know something...even if her time from event #2 was slower than event #1 and might have only been top 25% at event #1 that is not as relevant because the same methods and standard weren't used you just know every time she hits a camp she is always top 10% of kids
