Yes because the young black athlete needs the wisdom of the old white guy to succeed.

You have to be kidding me with that meme/picture.

I didn't see the race thing - all I saw was a bunch of angry jackasses yelling at some young kid.

That isn't coaching. It isn't leadership. It isn't a life lesson (or at least not a good one). Or necessary.

I am glad these guys are being slowly weeded out. We probably wont get them out of football because they all think they are Vince Lombardi, but they are slowly going away elsewhere.

I will be a happy camper when Nick Saban leaves Alabama, but that has a lot more to do with me being an Auburn fan than it does with him needing to be "weeded out"...hell, I would trade Gus Malzhan for Nick RIGHT NOW....I would take Dabo Sweeny over Gus Malzhan too!

Nick is hated here is South Florida and there are lots of stories about what a scum bag he is.

I remember the moment I knew what a total piece of slime he is... it was back when he was coaching LSU and had a press conference where he was whining about agents and agent runners hanging around the program and how they were 'scum trying to make a living off the back of these kids'. I was like "Dude, isn't that what you are doing?"

Parent over look it for the whole NFL dream thing - just as they did when they used to sacrifice their kids to Bobby Knight in basketball.

This is what I saw, too. It's also how I feel about the red-faced, yelling "coaches".

That's the message you took from this picture!? You have got to be kidding me. Read the words and stop looking at color, both ways, coach and athlete!

It is only some of your impressions that those coaches are yelling at the players. Actually, he is telling them where the hot chocolate is and asking them if they need marshmallows. Most followed that up with some "please" statement wrt what to do on the field.

Ugh. Me too! Auburn fan here (football and softball) and I say we just get all new coaches this year! Softball already did it, so please take Gus next! His coaching decisions cost us some very big football games this year.

Sorry for the tangent! Just couldn't let that one go.

Lol, There is yelling at a player and then there is abuse. I hope my daughter's coach(es) get on her butt when she messes up. I have seen some of the greatest college coaches, including Hutch, get all over girls and it wasn't pretty. It's like real life, could those of you that are against coaches yelling come tell my boss to not yell during production meetings? Thanks

What you don’t see when coaches like Hutch get on their players is how much effort Hutch puts into building a positive relationship, how many hours she spends convincing players that she believes in them. Then jackass coaches try to do the same thing without building the relationship and talk about how they have to toughen up players for college.

Another way to say it: They don’t care what you know until they know you care.
