Bob, as long as she figures out what really drives her interest, that's the important thing. Neither of my daughters had any interest in playing in college. Ever. They played the game for its own sake. It's kind of unfortunate that these days too much of youth sports has become about "getting to the next level" instead of appreciating the level you're on and enjoying it while you're there.

Funny thing about it, though. My older daughter used to participate in co-ed softball competitions with her sorority and whatever frat they were paired up with. She was always a highly sought-after commodity because she was a girl with playing experience, and she could throw and hit better than a lot of the guys. To the guys, it was like having an extra guy on the field. To her, she couldn't believe how poorly trained a lot of the guys were.

Your DD should keep an open mind about slow pitch. There are worse ways to spend a summer evening than playing a fun game of softball and heading out for a little liquid refreshment.

Slow pitch softball is *THE* most popular sport in the US by a wide margin. Since she has some hitting and throwing skills, she'll be quite a catch for the slow pitch teams.

All my DDs played on slow pitch teams and had a blast. They met a bunch of people. My DD#2 met her husband playing on a team. DD#1 and DD#3 were highly valued players.

The fun thing for me? I got to teach them a little bit about slow pitch hitting.
