- Besides saying hello, do not talk to a college coach anywhere at the ball park unless you have a older daughter that plays for that coach

This is a no-no. Even if you have a daughter on the field, coach or team liaison is the only team representative
that should talk to a college coach. As a parent you could be viewed as a 'hover parent'. Leave coaching to the coaches
and enjoy the game.

If your team has no one to represent the players, ask your coach if you can represent the team (not just your child)

I have to agree with CMMom on the calming down. You can usually tell the age group at a tournament by how loud the fans are. That's why the crazy ones really stand out at 14 and above. In the lower levels they are hidden among their own.

They definitely do. The only time you hear most 14U parents get loud is at an event like nationals where the score actually matters. I don't think the college coaches there mind as long as they are not nuts.

Don’t think you are talking about the same thing as the op.

I am in this position a lot, I see my older daughters college coaches at tournaments regularly. They are nice people and seem to like to visit, and as long as we don’t talk directly about my younger daughter it is not a violation of any rules. (Younger dd is a hs sophomore)

When they are at tournaments, they are working and they are generally pretty busy. I never approach them when they are “working”, but they often see my wife and I and greet us. When they do that I know they aren’t working and it’s ok to visit briefly. It would be pretty weird to not exchange some pleasantries with someone who is with one of my kids almost every day.

Just to be clear, if they are watching our game or any game, they don’t see me and I don’t see them. If they are talking to someone, I assume it’s business and I stay away. But sometimes it’s fine. They know how to let you know it’s ok. And I never talk about any players, not even my favorite one, lol

Since all of you seem knowledgeable on the subject I need some advice. I am an assistant and manager and handle all of our coaching contact. How do you handle talking about your DD? It seems all of the coaches I meet for the first time ask me who our top athletes are or who is getting some attention. DD is in this group and I always say I don't want to really say much since she is my DD but every coach says don't worry about it, if she is good tell us.

I do refer them to others but if they are asking I don't want to come across as a father trying to play his up.

If you are talking to someone who truly needs to know, simply tell them facts... "She played SS, made 1 error over the season, and hit .550 with 24 HRs."

And if she pitches...she has 6 pitches and her highest velocity is 66mph.

By the way, I broke all the parent showcase rules this weekend! And I liked it.
