DD has a bracket-only tournament. First game is Sat at 10:25..if they lose they don't play till 5:25 ughh. I hope they win but they are a team with half 08's and half 09's and are playing
an 07 so I am not too confident.

They did lose, 8-7 and then lost the second one 6-5. Lost to two 07's and DD's a mix of 08's and 09's. Girls are still getting used to kid pitch and started to figure out you need to swing the bats in the second game . DD got two hits in second game and drove in 3 but also made a big error at second which cost a run. Anybody know how that would effect her WAR :p
Today's games washed out even though it is beautiful. Had 2 hours of rain last night. Team needs more kid pitch game reps but only have one more Fall tourney before they close shop for the winter. Will be interesting
to see if they start from square one once spring season starts.

Two friendlies tomorrow, against teams who are probably not at my DDs' team's level. I don't expect much, but hopefully DD2 will have time in the circle. DD1 is their primary catcher, she caught every inning of the tournament we played in two weeks ago. She is home sick from school right now, and can barely move. Hope she will be able to play tomorrow, she will be devastated if she isn't.

Not knowing what teams we were playing I underestimated one, and got the other one correct. Our 14u team is made up of girls who just turned 13 and two who just turned 12. In the first game they played 15 year olds, and one 16 year old, many playing for their varsity HS team. We won 12-11, with DD1 getting 4 RBIs. I had to point out to her that she was responsible for a third of the team's runs in that game. DD2 pitched 3 innings, her first time against much older girls. She allowed 2ERs, with 3 hits, 7Ks and 2BB. I, and her coaches, were most impressed that she stuck out the last 2 batters of the game after 2 errors (including a parent calling from the sidelines, confusing her on a play*) which lead to 2 unearned runs, and getting really close to tying the game. I was so proud of her composure.

Second game was against a team with a similar age breakdown. We should not even have played that game. That score was 17-4, with our weaker pitchers in the circle.

*Bottom of the last inning, we were up by two runs. One out and bases loaded, and a soft grounder is hit just to the first base side of the circle. My DD2 picks up the ball and lines herself up correctly to throw to first. One of our team fathers yells out "home" from the sidelines. My DD, thinking it was a coach who told her to go home, resets herself to throw home, throws but does not make it in time. Run scores. She does not let it get to her, and as I said, struck out the next two batters.

Her AC told her after the game that one thing she could learn from this was once she sets herself for a play, she has to commit to that play, don't try to reset for another play, even if it is not the best play.

Will this be difficult for you? It is for me and my DDs.

Nah. They only take a full month off from practice starting end of November. Other than that they still will practice a couple of times a week and I will hit with my DD at home She plays basketball too.

That sounds really nice.

My DDs team close up for two months, then three months of winter workouts indoors. I imagine you are not in such cold climes. Along with the games, I will miss the chance to be outside with them practicing on our free time.

My girls are both on a swim team, so they keep active, thankfully.

We are in Oklahoma. I grew up in MA so it is mild in comparison but still winter hitting at home is usually tee work and wiffle balls in the garage.

Good to have an option. No garage for us, so we are out of luck that way.

DD came home for the weekend. Sat we went and watched her old club team, she calls them her "babies". It was nice to see and catch up with the parents and players. DD drifted in and out of the dugout. She did go talk to the catcher about a play she made. I could see DD(smiling) hand on hip shaking her finger at the catcher, whose hands are up in the "What did I do?" gesture. It was funny.
