DD is playing her first college games of her career today and I'm not there. I have been there for every game of her pre-college softball career, keeping her batting stats, having the cooler full of water and healthy snacks, at the ready with helmet parts and extra leg guard buckles. It. Is. Killing. Me. It is only fall ball scrimmage games but the fact that she is playing 8.5 hours away makes it just a preview of things to come. Ugh. *Sigh*

It sucks to miss any game. But, you should be proud that she doesn't need you anymore. So many kids are dependent upon their parents these days...kind of refreshing to have a Dad say, "She doesn't need me anymore."

Does your DD's college team have live stats? I'm sure they do.......In the spring(probably not in the fall) you can follow the play by play on line.

Yeah they actually live stream the spring games so that will help preserve my sanity...

Such is life.

DS is in a sport (rowing) that takes him all over the place. I don't even try to get to all his races. I've seen him race in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Michigan. He's also raced in Texas, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Ontario. At some point one has to say, OK, I'm not even going to try to get to all his races.

Especially when I have kids in multiple sports. I've missed some of his races watching DD 1 and DD 3 play softball. When both DD 1 and DD 3 were playing softball, DW got to go to DD 1's games, and I went to DD 3's games.

Yesterday DS got two gold medals in a small race a few hours from here. Instead I took DD 3 to a double header softball game. Next week DW and I are going to Illinois to watch DS race, and DD 3 will get a ride to her double header with the parent of a girl who lives a few blocks away.

IF it works.

One time my DS was in a big rowing race in Philadelphia. They were supposed to live stream the races. I was going to watch the race on my cell phone while DD 3 was pitching in a tournament game. The feed didn't work, so I didn't get to see the race. At least I got to see DD 3 pitch.

I'm in the same boat. My daughter played her fall "play day" games on Friday. As a DIII school, that is only "real" games they can play in the fall. Tough not being there, having been one of her coaches the last 8 years, but believe me she was more than ready to not have me around and has loved every second of fall practices and the play day. What more can I ask for? Her school live streams all home games in the Spring, so we'll still have that.

That has to be hard! Right now, it's killing me that my DD's school doesn't even have a Fall schedule! They are working out/practicing hard and will do inner team scrimmages - no games with outside opponents. My mind is having a very hard time with this (when we looked at this school, they had Fall games before - so this is first time they are doing this)...and it makes me nervous too! I guess I will be rolling over my PTO to Spring so I can schedule those days off to drive and watch her play. :)

Hope the livestream works for you, when you need it.
