DD played 7 hours away and like you it was hard not being there, my job and my wife's job would not allow us to travel to many games, maybe three times a year. We tried to pick when they played multiple games, such as a tournament or three game series, so we would get to see the most games during a visit.

The games were often streamed over the net so we watched when it was on the net. Each situation is different so you just got to plan ahead and make the best of each opportunity to go see her play. My wife and I would look over the schedule and make plans to go to the games when it was closer to where we lived.

Her college career is over and I do wish we were able to see more games that we did, but we did the best we could.

This thread about DD playing too far away to go watch reminds me of what a buddy of mine told me. He blames softball for stealing his DDs. He had a P and a C. They lived in California and both went away to play college ball in TX. They played 4 years, graduated and decided to stay in TX. He now only sees them once or twice a year.

I think I will make DD quit softball and I'll just lock her in her room before it's too late!

Your friend's kids made the best decisions of their lives by staying in Texas!
