I'd be cautious of joining a team where the politics are evident even before the team is put together. Those politics tend to roll over into position and playing time once the season has started.
I know... this team has been together for a while and my DD has been playing with it for the past two years... it seems as they get older politics is becoming more evident and influential. My DD is loyal and wants to continue to play for this team, I recommended giving another team a shot.
