The one that made me laugh was, "9 strong fielders looking for two bracket pitchers".

I saw a similar one last year that just cracked me up - Awesome group of solid players just need a pitcher, catcher and short stop for a great season - or something along those lines. I couldn't believe it was serious!!

This year with my DD being a 2nd year 16u pitcher we have been getting so many private messages it's been hilarious. And we have a team. And pretty much everyone contacting her and I know she has a team. I think there have been 6 different teams trying to get her to come out. One team that was particularly annoying had multiple girls contacting her privately via every social media option known to man. They offered to let her play free, told her she'd get all the circle time she wants and tried to guilt her that without her they might not have a team (it's a new start up) because they don't have any pitching. Well maybe you should have thought about that before you decided to start a new team from scratch!!

It's pretty common to advertise for P and SS, even if you already have players for those positions. Pitching depth is always good, and you might find an upgrade to what you already have. Girls who think they are SS are usually athletic and skilled. If they aren't an upgrade to your current SS, they can usually be taught to play other positions easily enough.

In the eastern PA area same thing. There are so many teams. Teams you never hear of or see at tournaments are now looking for players. It's the same thing here.. established, well coached team looking for 2 pitchers and a catcher who want more playing time.
I saw a post on a local SB message board last week that gave me a chuckle. "Looking for a 10U pitcher who throws very hard and throws strikes".
Like there are 15-20 kids out there at 9 years old who can do just that.
DD is in one of the bigger orgs in our area. Our HC is very smart.. During the season he wrote down the names of kids we played that he felt would be good fits for our team this season. He contacted the coaches and asked for permission to speak to the parents.. Some said yes, others no.. He invited 10 kids to tryout. Luckily we had a great turnout and just about everyone invited came and were made offers and took spots..
You have to work it.

Happy update - no more tryouts! Despite the craziness we have put together a pretty great team I think. That was pretty stressful! Worth it though.

Seems like there is a huge pitching shortage everywhere. There are very few A/Gold level pitchers. And not an abundance of lower level pitching. In my area there are so many teams the dilution of talent is horrible. A lot of guys that want to coach, a lot of egos, and a lot of daddy ball. Ruining the competition.

That's the truth. Everyone and their brother is advertising for an "A-level bracket-ready pitcher." Seems like they're all already committed at this point.

Seems to be a never ending problem.
