Tomorrow morning, I go to cheer practice for three hours and then I go to one of our local cheer gyms for tumbling classes for an hour. Dad and I plan on going driving so I can get some driving time in to inch me closer to getting my 40 or so hours in and closer to testing for my license. Later in the afternoon, I have softball tryouts. Saturday, I have more softball tryouts and I'm supposed to be getting in more driving time. Sunday, we leave for Orlando for a week.

Our organizational tryout is tomorrow. We have basically nobody registered, which makes sense since our team practices an hour and a half from where the org is having tryouts. We'll get to meet some other people in the org though, so that'll be good. I doubt we get any players out of it.

In a really good place right now. The glow of a new team, new org, new environment. I know this doesn't last forever, but for now, our family is enjoying the honeymoon period.

Daughter played two games on Sunday morning, we ate lunch, and then rushed to the tryout. Org had done their homework, knew who we were in advance, and started the full court press on my daughter (and I) right from the get go. She ate it up like mint chocolate chip ice cream. I made her sleep on it a couple of nights and do some pro and con lists, but it was already a done deal.

Pitching arm is on ice for three full weeks, but DD is excited to rededicate to lessons. Actually asked me to set it all up. She hasn't been this gung-ho in 15 months and it makes being a Dad awesome. She told me that she doesn't want to let her teammates down. Mission accomplished.

Tomorrow, DD & I leave for mother/daughter road trip through Wednesday - NO SOFTBALL PLANNED! :D Then we meet up with the rest of the family for the rest of the week at the beach for some sun, fishing and eating/drinking. :p I have to say it's been REALLY nice not to have to worry about tryouts any more...we will get that stress again in 2 years when she's looking for a program to finish out her college years at, but until then, I'm enjoying it. DD hasn't picked up a ball in 2 weeks, and won't for another 1.5 weeks - not long enough but it's something...she has been doing hard core workouts 3-4x a week though. Only 2.5 weeks left with DD home...going to savor what I can!

MS softball pre-season games are this weekend but our coaches are out of town so our team isn't playing. Was really looking forward to watching DD play again - had a scrimmage last week but she hasn't played a real game since the first week of July. Official season starts the next weekend. DD got new catcher gear last night so we might take her to the field to throw some balls at her to test it out.
School starts Monday :/

Tryout shuffle this weekend. Weather is anticipated on Sunday, so Sunday's tryout is moving to Saturday, which means we can squeeze in another tryout on Sunday. We were going to have to go to the giant cattle call org tryout for that team b/c we had no other times available for a private tryout. Would love to wrap this all up this weekend, but we will probably have to go into next weekend for a few more. No school for us until 8/18.

We are still competing at the 18U Nationals so DD's TB career continues for at least one more day. So far DD is batting .500 for the tourney with 3 HRs and 8 RBIs. And as an added bonus, her college coach saw her hit 2 of the dingers...

After 3 years at the same org, DD will be playing for a new team this fall. She decided to leave a nationally known program for another pretty well-known org because the new org has all college coaches and she really wants to improve her softball IQ. There was some concern whether her new club could provide the same amount of exposure to colleges as the big name org.

Yesterday, she had her first college visit and the coach really made her feel good about the decision. She told DD her reasons for changing were solid and that she knows all the coaches and it's a strong program. She also said the director (also a college coach) is well-trusted and honest in his evaluations on whether a recruit is a good fit for her program. She really reaffirmed the plan and path DD has taken as well as providing some really solid advice as DD starts her showcase years. It's been a week of emotions leaving friends and teammates, but the visit really helped confirm that she made the right choice.

Now we're just looking forward to a few weeks off and then getting started with her new coaches and teammates in September. I just hope I don't have to change my profile name to a different number!
