how long does it typically take to get feedback from tryouts

DD2 (10u) attended first real tryout last night. went pretty well. I think team is having another tryout tonight.

how long should I expect it to take to hear back one way or the other? what is typical time frame given to players/parents to make a decision if offered a spot?

I ask because I think she is going to try out for two other orgs, one next week, the other the week of Aug 19th. been burnt once, want multiple options, so we can decide which is best fit (or stay where we are, no formal tryouts were conducted when DD2 joined, she worked out with them 2-3 times, and when we asked about joining, they said they wanted her).

IME if they're sure they want her, it's very fast. Same day or the following. You can of course tell them you have other tryouts to attend before you decide.

I guess it depends on the team and format. With our team, when a player comes to tryout, and we like what we see, we talk to her parent(s) before they leave the field and let them know we want her on the team.

Depends on player I think. A stud player will know same day, average player will take up to a day after the next tryout. (They are still shopping) Bad players will only get strung along if they are worried they won't field a team.

That's my experience too. The hard part is finding a nice way to hold the offer while still doing other tryouts. I don't like feeling pressured to make an instant decision, but I don't like stringing anyone along either. The ideal scenario would be to have multiple tryouts in a week's period or less so no one has to wait too long, but that's not always possible.

What GRCS said. If they like DD, you'll know soon. If she's someone they want if someone else says no, you'll know in a few days.

tried not to have dad glasses on, she looked i would say in top 40% of the girls I saw at this tryout. apparenty they had two previous tryouts, and one more to come (which DD2 cannot be at). 18 girls at the one we were at, they had them each pin numbers on, and had forms to evaluate them. They did not talk to anybody immediately after, thanked everyone and we all left. I think it will be tough, it seems (other than Pitchers) most of the girls were very close skill/athleticism wise.

I will also say that I've had a number of coaches say they were going to call/email and then they fell off the face of the earth. Uncool. If you don't want to call, tell the parents at the tryouts that you will only call those you wish to see again or give offers to. DD did a private tryout for the undisputed #1 first year 14U team in the state. We knew it was a (very) long shot, but she wanted to see if she could catch pitchers at that level. That coach personally called me the next day to say no thanks, but also to thank us for coming out and to give us some feedback on what he saw with DD. Classy move and one I will definitely remember. He didn't need to do that.

Yes! Just do what you say you're going to, whatever that is. It's not that difficult.

If your dd is one of their top choices, you should hear within 24 hours---however, the answer and deposit will be expected just as quickly.
