Jump Starting Your Friday Check In 6/23/17

Ok So Since I am out of the office for a while I'm going to start this off early.

No big plans just leaving for Colorado either tonight or early tomorrow morning. Were gonna take our time going out there. College camp on Monday then rest of week are games!

DD decided to guest play for a team that really needs help at a 3 day tournament that's about an hour away. She'll catch at least 3 games and get some infield and outfield work. I'm guessing she'll only play one tournament after this one and focus on her college workout etc... I'll admit...I really don't miss the tournament schedule

DD and DW are headed to Cancun for her "senior trip"...

DD's 10U allstar team starts their district tournament tomorrow afternoon. She's never been on a team that's won at district so she's excited this year since her team is pretty good.

We're also hoping to have good umpires because last year was awful. The girls on the other team were leaving the bases early on steals and when the coach brought it to the head umpire's attention, he replied with "That's not my job to watch." He also threatened that if any coach came on the field with a rule book, they would be ejected immediately. Well after a few innings of the other girls still stealing early, our coach goes to confront the umpire and was ejected before he could finish getting the words out of his mouth.

So here's to good hits, throws, catches, and umpires!

We have a tournament in town this weekend! Been looking forward to this one since the tourney schedule came out. DD will be playing against a bunch of friends from school, so she's excited about that. Hoping we don't get too much rain Friday night and the schedule can be played as is for a change.

DD 3 has a tournament nearby, Wisconsin USSSA Class B Championship. Some of the teams are legit class B, some are really A level teams trophy-hunting, and a few are the dregs of class B.
Until last year, her old organization hosted the tournament, so it was in the next town over, about a 15 minute drive.
Then, their organization lost their best 15U, 14U and 13U teams, so a different organization is hosting. (DD 3 is on the 14U team, which left for greener pastures).

So far DD 3 is pitching well. She hasn't pitched any pool play games, so tomorrow might be her first pool play game. So far she has pitched 6 bracket games and one league play game. Her record so far is 5-2.

What make it fun -- this past spring, she won about half the games she pitched for JV. Every game she won, without exception, was run ruled. She lost every close game by 1 or 2 or 3 runs.
So far this season, her TB team has had 4 close games when she has been pitching, and won 3 out of 4 close games.

Better bats and gloves make the difference between a pitcher being the hero in a close game as opposed to being the goat. Her TB team has really put together some great rallies, and some great defensive plays, when they were down a little. The pitcher doesn't win the game. The team does.
