Or Mommy Ball when the coaches kid can walk 12 batters and hit two more over the course of four innings and still get a 5th inning. Meanwhile, two others who are statistically more accurate get one inning and no more if it doesn't go nearly perfect. Hate to see it. Only thing you can do is shake your head, tell the kids who are left out that all they can do is do their best in whatever role they get, and hope a coaching staff realizes none of these kids deserve that.

Was it a game you were trying to win or a throw away game? I have seen coaches send struggling pitchers back to the circle to let them work through it. But it is not much fun for the rest of the team to participate in a walk-a-thon.

Was on the opposite side of this once. Coaches had no players on the Team.

DD would walk 50 batters and go back out there next inning. #2 pitcher would walk 2 batters and be replaced by DD. I think DD was slightly better then #2 and I am sure people could argue #2 was better. They were certainly close IMO.

No idea what they were thinking.

How are other pitchers going to catchup if they are not allowed to pitch in games or you pull them at the first sign of trouble? They are in a tough enough position already.

JAD- yes, whether we should have cared or not in a pool game is another issue, but we are quickly reaching the point where the team wants any win they can get if you know what I mean. in this game, we only hit 10 of the 11 available players and never subbed the 11th in, ran more aggressively than typical, had a lot more barking from the staff at the typical mistakes. Despite this, most of the runs against were scored by walks, HBP and wild pitches. In another pool game, the SP got pulled after one really poor inning, and in the remaining pool game, the starter got pulled after facing only 6 batters. The game at issue here is one where we had 10 walks, two HBP, a HR, and a bases clearing triple over the course of the game. In one innings, (10u rules) we only recorded one out on a fluke baserunning error. And it could have been worse- 5-6 other would be wild pitches bounced off the backstop with a runner on third rebounded too far to allow the runner to advance.over the course of the game 1/4 of the strikes recorded were swinging strikes on balls out of the zone.

Love playing against Daddyball teams. Our biggest rival is one of them - HC's and AC's little darlings in the circle game after game, year after year. Never won squat but DD gets to live the dream of being a TB pitcher.

I'd think they would have a hard time keeping players on that team.
