Between the just generally bad playing and listening to clueless pare ts rant about how yheir kid shohld be starting over the ones who do (and how they know more than the coach) I am just counting down the days til high school is over and travel ball starts! Who's with me?

Every year on my daughter's high school team, we always to seem to have one or two girls who know they aren't going to play much but love being in the dugout and have an infectious positive attitude. The attitude is more important than being the best in the long run.

We are lucky folks around here. DD adores her high school coach and the girls she's playing with, and her travel team is also giving her exactly what she needs. She really is surrounded by great people this year.

I keep hearing horror stories from other high school families and I just thank my lucky stars.

Running off to knock on wood...

I was wondering what was involved with "clunting" down the days till TB as I was sure that if I wasn't already doing it, I would like to.;)

Every year on my daughter's high school team, we always to seem to have a few girls who know they aren't going to play much and have an infectious negative attitude. fortunately, as of today he's sending the three kids down to JV who had no place being on the team in the first place. we also have some passive-aggressive mothers very active in the boosters who kiss the coach's @ss and don't publicly talk trash about other players, they just listen- probably because their DD's are the one's everyone else is trying to figure out how they got a starting spot.

I agree that the player's attitude is more important than being the best.

on last year's TB team just before the start of pre-season, the program director blew apart the teams and put us with some kids we had played and coached with in the past who are the overrated cool kids. some of them play on our HS varsity team with DD. we approached it like it would be good for all of us in the long run.

it wasn't.

their attitude still stinks and they are more firmly entrenched in the system than ever.
fortunately we are looking forward to a season with a new TB team after this sh*tshow of a season is over.

We've had 2 of 3 tournaments rained out.
And most of our scrimmages have been played in mud or rain or in ice cold weather.
Softball in the Northeast is tough.

DD 3 is counting out the days.

Due to the inevitable rain outs, there are always a LOT of games at the end of the season. DD 3 has been pitching every day. And when she doesn't have a JV game? One day she was called down to pitch a JV 2 game. Yesterday (new rule!) she was allowed to play 2 games for her club team, and she pitched both of them. She is counting out the days so her body can recover before TB season. DW made an appointment for DD 3 to get a nice massage this coming Sunday, right after the season is over.

Travel ball starting this weekend with a trip to Minneapolis (7 hours each way). Weather looks brutal; rainy and 50 degrees. Guess the kids will enjoy the indoor pool if nothing else!
