I had one walk away last year. She was the one who had the ability but never the mind for playing. Always hustled, first one on and off the field, always worked hard, the kid who the coaches loved to have on their team for attitude much more than the ability she demonstrated. She loved being on teams and has a competitive streak but just couldn't get out of her own head enough to blossom and hated failure so much she didn't want to take risks to get better. Now she is doing something where she has talent and has no fear of failure. All I can tell you is that they need to find their own way, and if it isn't the game, trust that they know what they enjoy. For you? shed a tear or two and try to remember when we were young and knew better than our parents what we wanted to do.

a kid losing interest may be sad, but not as sad as a kid who wants to play but due to some **** health problem, is losing her ability to play (all sports).
it would be so much easier if she could lose interest....
