DD has first ever TB tournament this weekend. What kind of food or snacks do you feed your kids between games? We might not get a break for lunch so I want her to be full and energetic. She gets HANGRY fast!

Also, if there is anything that you feel is an absolute must to pack, please let me know! We're new to the TB scene so any advice is helpful!

Most of the tournaments and friendlies we play have snack bars, which I tend to support to help the host organization. That said, we also pack a small cooler of drinks, and a few assorted snacks. Common snacks are beef jerkey, fruit (sliced apples, grapes, strawberries, and blueberries are my DD's favorites), Cheez-It mix, string cheese, and PB&J sandwiches. Last night's leftover pizza also tends to make an appearance pretty regularly.

I agree with the above - usually my DD just wants fruit when super rushed because it's all that sounds good but when things slow down enough in addition to the above for some protein we also frequently bring greek yogurt, sometimes hummus and pretzels, sub sandwiches and homemade trail mix that is tailored our way. Other things that she likes i presume cause she is craving more salt are black olives, pickles, fishy crackers and Chicken In a Biscuit (ok let's face it these are mine).

Some non-Food items: Cash, sunscreen, portable chairs/bleacher seats, blankets, jackets, umbrellas, water, phone charger, and something for siblings to do (football, scooter, books, iPad etc). Extra socks aren’t a bad idea. Double check everything in her bag, uniforms, cleats, bat etc. ID card or copy of birth certificate if applicable.

Thanks y'all! I'm trying to go ahead an get everything ready so I'm not rushing Friday night! Lol, it's like packing for a beach vacation!

*Also thank you MNDad! I'm so glad you said something about a birth certificate because her coach wanted a copy to keep in their record book. I had completely forgotten about needing to get it to them!

We always had a few sandwiches, fruit like grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe, apples and oranges to name a few, make sure the player is hydrated. That should start a day before by drinking plenty of water and try and drink at least a cup an hour. I always encouraged players to avoid sugary and caffeine type drinks, due to IMO they tend to dehydrate the player more on warm days.

I think it depends on the concession stand of the complex. Do i go with the hot dog, cheese burger, or the walking taco? Decisions, decisions.
