DD 12u team is debating using walk up music for when the players come up to bat. My thoughts are that I can see it as something fun for the girls, however I can also see how it could get annoying I'm curious to others opinions and experiences are with and about walk up music.

With timed games and generally lots of games going on with multiple fields, this just wastes times and annoys other teams on adjoining fields.

It is fun in HS/College/Championship/7 inning games when it is just the two teams out there.

At out first weekend home tournament, and between innings, a full walk-up song started to play.
It started out with a military drum and then an electric guitar kicks in...
The hair on the back of my neck stands up cuz the song is one of my favorites...Devour..by the band Shinedown...
I look at my wife with the "WTH?" look on my face...
I then look into the dugout and there's my youngest DD holding up her hand in the "rock out" position, bangin' her head back and forth...smilin' at me...

I guess she likes the song too...:D

Yes it can be annoying at times...but not when the song is awesome :D

As with all walk-up and warm-up music, I strongly recommend an adult listen to the entire thing before it gets the ok.

Nothing like the softly rising sun and dewy chill of a crisp June morn, 14 fresh-faced young women making dreams come true, and the explicit version of a DMX song, blaring across the field at 1000 decibels.

I don't think walk-up music is appropriate for travel or HS unless it's a special day - championship game, Senior night, last home game, etc. Another team brought warm-up music and blared it on our field, and our girls actually saw it as tremendously disrespectful.

The music gets our girls pumped. We play it at practice, during warm up, between innings, walking up to bat. We don't care if it's annoying. Unless it annoys the umpires. Sometimes they make us turn it off, very sad.

My oldest DD plays HS. Last year at a different school, different state, there was a school that had an announcer. He would announce all the girls as they came up to bat, recap the inning when it was over, stuff like that. The home team would have music along with being announced. It was kinda cool.

At HS games it can be kind of fun and cool. For some reason though I really can't stand it at TB tournaments. I do like to play music at practices from time to time and I don't mind it when teams play music during warm ups at TB tournaments as long as it isn't to loud. You will see walk up music done at the 10U & 12U level some, but rarely 14U and up in our neck of the woods.

At the moment, I think my kid would pick "Stone Cold Crazy" or "Fuel" by Metallica \m/...

...or something by Justin Bieber
