In my opinion you should practice with her at least a few times a week. Get warmed up at home before practice ,it will
Show. When she walks into practice be ready to hit and catch Flyballs! I wouldn't worry too much yet. Id make it my goal
as a parent to have her catching flys asap. She'll learn a lot this year.
YouTube catching flyballs and have her watch a short video with you. Then head to the yard.

Funny how that works. ;)

For us, the eye-opener happened right from the beginning of Maddie's journey. One of her first teammates (8U rec) was - and still is - one of the hardest-working young players I've ever met. Maddie wanted to play at her level, so we got to work.

Near the end of our time in rec ball, I recall hearing a couple of parents talking about a very good hitting young player who was up to bat at that moment. One parent commented, "She only hits well because she goes to a private batting coach". The parent's tone was heavy with contempt. I knew the batter. She not only went to a private coach, but could often be found working with her dad in one of the batting cages in the evenings - a dedicated player with very supportive parents. She moved on to TB the following season.

Even within our TB team there are players who put in extra work and players who don't. The work you put in shows on the field. The work you don't put in also shows on the field. It's easy to pick out a kid who is putting in the extra time and kid who simply does the minimum amount expected of her.

It's getting more and more noticeable on our team, that's for sure. Some girls are progressing much faster than others. Some are very obviously falling behind.

Thanks for the advice. Team has things they are trying to do on their end...I realize not as much time to backtrack to where she is...so we need to step up our game. We have been doing some things on our own...but mostly involving hitting. She gets hitting lessons when we can get on his schedule (which has been challenging) Instructor has given homework to work on at home related to hitting. We just started doing the same for throwing/catching and fielding. Sounds like we need to do more than we currently are. It's just tough to fit it all in during a week. I guess we will find out if this is for her/us. Thanks

LOL! Now try adding pitching lessons and practice sessions to that.
