My daughter is a 5'0" freshman playing varsity. She has to jump to give high fives to half the girls she plays with and against

Daughter has played up for quite some time. It can be intimidating at times, but it will stretch them as a player. Your team should also be winning about 75% of your scheduled games. If your winning 90+% of your games, you need to find more challenging tournaments (better competition, play up, etc.....). If you are wining 25%, you are playing out of your league. After playing up we found that she was way ahead of girls her age at camps high school tryouts etc....

I so agree with this! When you're on a team that's trying to play above its level nobody is happy. Ask me how i know. You can't lose 95% of the time and maintain high spirits. Or maybe some can but we couldn't. Then there are the teams that call themselves C level and sandbag with their pitchers most of the A teams around here would take and trophy hunt. The girls don't get anything out of that but cheap plastic trinkets.

I think the team DD plays on recruits by size, and they are all big. While waiting for our field to clear for the next game I overheard the competition asking where our org's 10U team was because the girls waiting to play next have to be the 12U team! It was good for a laugh when they realized those girls waiting around were the 10U team.
