bmakj - FYI - Lizardskins come in two "thicknesses" - if you're going over an old grip, the thicker grip might result in a softer-than-intended grip

Three actually! 1.1mm is normal they have a thicker and thinner one also.

My daughter is a creature of habit. It takes awhile for her to have confidence in new equipment. If she swings a certain size bat I can get the same exact bat but 1" bigger but it will take her months to swing it doing battingat home before she will use it in team practices and games.

Same with her glove. She will break it in during individual pitching practice forever before using it in even a team practice.

I would just be patient with her. Younger girls need confidence to do well, and sometimes that is their confidence in their equipment.

If she truly is hitting better with it, let her swing it at home with Tee or soft toss work. After she's swung it a little with no pressure, take a tee and set it at home plate. Have her hit five balls with each bat so she can see which hits farthest. If it does you will be surprised she will start using it on her own within a few weeks.

Old bat "accidentally" left at a tournament 2 hrs away. problem solved. lol

Or you could do what my M-I-L did to F-I-L. He had a pair of really ratty old slippers he refused to stop using after she bought him new slippers. He dug them out of the garbage can on two different occasions. The M-I-L cleaned up after the dogs one day and filled the old, ratty slippers. Needless-to-say, they did not find their way out of the garbage on that day. ;)

at her first (weather has sucked lately) rec (LL) practice last night, when her time for BP came around, she actually pulled the "new" bat out without prompting, gave a big thumbs up. couple of nice hits, one big pop fly, but was really trying too hard. AC throwing BP (I am also an AC, I was in field working with fielders, this is 7/8/9 yr olds, some first time players) was really giving her crap to hit, so she was trying too hard. when I am able to be there, I will offer to throw BP to HC.

DD, 2007 player, just started travel this year. trying to help her hitting, acquired a used 30/20 LS XENO for a really good price. she used it in hitting practice one day, ball popped off bat much faster, sounded good, so I bought it (was on loan/test drive for one practice). Guy who brokered deal did me a favor. Prolem is, DD does not want to use it. Grip tape wrong, doesn't feel right, etc. Bat is one ounce heavier than what she had been using (Worth eclipse 30/19 composite, handed down from older DD), but real issue is she does not like to change.

same issue with glove, oldeer DD moved up to bigger glove last year, passed down a broken in 12.5 inch to younger DD (she was using 11.5 inch, $15 Walmart special, so broken in it feels like a piece of felt). really time for her to move up to this, but refuses.

basically hates new gear (although she really took to team helmet when she joined this travel team shockingly). I thought she would like this bat, as it is what about half the girls on her new travel team have, and would help her fit in (she is still waiting on her practice shirts, she joined team late).

Help, I know it will help her hitting (I know it will not make huge difference, just looking to add a little more pop when ball leaves her bat), but only if I can get her to use it!

I love this! My 18U DD is still using the same glove I got her at 10U. I bought her a very nice new glove a few years ago and she will not use it. She doesn't like switching bats either but when the last one developed the "rattle of death" she had no choice.

Hide the old stuff ;)

So much yes! Got a $250 catchers mitt that DD wouldn't use because it was "too stiff" and she preferred the $60 catchers mitt that was floppy. Hid the old one, forced her to use the new one, now it's broken in and she doesn't complain about it any more.

It could be worse... Your DD could send you texts for the custom Demarini that just hit the market or the new glove that comes with financing or she could want to change bats like socks... Fortunately both of my DD's were not that way, even though they would get hung on a particular bat of glove, which is common at some point... but, I coached a girl one time that I swear her dad had to have a key to the sporting goods store or was a distributor or something - four bats in her bat bag, two gloves, new cleats seemed every other tournament...
