We are four games in and off to a great start. 3-1 with a very young team with 2 freshman pitchers right now. They have looked very good so far even though we are missing three players. Two are on our basketball team that has reached the Elite 8 and then mine. DD looked great all preseason and then last Wednesday she was sent to an orthopedic dr by our trainer. They thought she had torn cartilage in her knee but the MRI came back clean. It looks like hitting the floor one to many times during basketball had it aggravated and it flared up catching. She probably will miss our tourney this weekend and hopefully get back to playing next week.

A little less than thirty-seven hours away from the first pitch in our playday! Two weeks away from spring break Tourney in Gulf Shores, AL. Looks like a nice place to play.

Right Here For Now
This is true. My one wish is that DD truly enjoys this last year playing HS ball. Last three years haven't been too fun for her.

Yeah...DD sat out her Senior year this year. The girls were extremely nasty. Just because she signed and no one else did, they bullied the hell out of her. She told the coach on more than several occasions but it never got better. Although, the teammates bullied her but still respected what she could do on the field, they never said anything in front of her. Now that she's not playing and they don't have her behind the plate as well as her stick, they bully her openly at school. I told her to pick the biggest one and just punch her in the face and break her nose. She might get expelled but I feel a lawsuit coming on since we have let everyone from the coach to the school Principals know what's going on. Sorry,,,but I still think HS ball is nothing more than glorified rec ball....at least in my neck of the woods.

Question for you? What do you do when you have good, fast pitching and the HS catcher is very inexperienced at catching, especially in receiving and blocking movement pitches? Freshman pitcher DD is playing JV and my fear is it could be a long season without a competent, travel ball type catcher. In fact, DD (who hasn't played catcher since rec league (9yo?) may be asked to catch the #2 pitcher when DD isn't pitching.

You find best athletie and tell them they will play every minute of every game if they want, can also bat where ever they want in lineup.

P and C are toss up IMO, can be in for some long games if you are weak at either.

(If possible I would try to avoid pitching and catching)

What is your best athlete is your pitcher :)

A year ago I would have agreed with you that a player should not pitch AND catch but it's JV and my DD is only playing high school ball for fun (no athletic scholarship aspirations) so my thought is why not enjoy the game and play multiple positions if she is needed there?

My dd's HS team played in a high school tournament this weekend and placed 2nd. My daughter just transferred in, so she has to sit 1/2 the season and it's killing her. I can't wait till she can get out there and play.
