Thanks to the 4 bullies on DD's ex- HS team that managed to chase her and 3 others, which were their 4 best players off of the team, this team has no prayers of post season play.

I feel you on this one. So frustrating when there are bad eggs. In our case the two bullies are actually good players which makes it worse because the coaches should have them benched or off of the team but have done nothing (I'm assuming that's because they are good players). DD is the best on the team (stated by others, not just wearing my proud parent glasses here) and is really frustrated. My husband thinks she'll quit if something doesn't change. I sure hope college is different!

Well, I guess it's good I vent here instead of to the coaches,

Update: It looked like DD 3's HS team would play 6 games over spring break, which DD 3 had to miss for a family trip booked before we knew the expectations.
Then, she would have to sit another 6 games.

instead, they played 3 games over break, and will play 6 games this week.

Since so many girls missed for spring break, the head coach sent a nasty email and vented a lot, then they decided to let the girls who went on spring break play as soon as they get back.

For various reasons, they decided to put 2 girls from JV onto Varsity. Including the other JV pitcher. Now they have 4 pitchers, 3 on V, only DD 3 on JV.

Which means DD 3 will have to pitch at least 5 games this week. (We hope they will have a second pitcher for a DH on Saturday.)

DD 3 pitched her first complete JV game today (she won a run-ruled game 22-0 before the break). Won 14-3. That makes her 2-0 on JV as a starter.

Glad to see it is looking better for you and your DD! Have fun this week with all the games. Hopefully she doesn't go from being not use to used to much.

Finally finished our rain delay game from earlier in the year against the perennial district champs. A 3-2 win in 10 innings, ITB. Then won the second game against them 4-0. With four district games left, one more win will give us the number one seed in the tournament. DD was also accepted into the National Honor Society yesterday! It was a good day here!

So glad I'm not alone in my frustrations with a HS team. Our little HS, in a little town, just finished up the season with only two wins all year. DD is the only TB player on the HS team and knows her stuff (constantly watching college games on WatchESPN, asking questions, reading articles, etc) and comes home after practices and games venting about how much she's frustrated with the team because they don't seem to want to improve. She says all they work on at practice is infield drills and about 90% of their hitting is short toss with whiffle balls with the other 10% being front toss from the coach behind a pitching screen. They only have one pitcher, they never work on pitching during practice, and it shows in the games.

DD is a catcher. During games, when there's potential for a play at the plate, she's yelling "Four! Four! Four!" and the cut off throws it to two. When an infielder makes an error (there were a total of 64 errors committed in 15 games this year), the coach yells "hey fix it" from the dugout but never tells the players HOW to fix it. Only two players on the roster finished the season with a batting average over .300. *sigh* These are just a few examples of frustration sources.

I guess what frustrates me most is that the kids and the coaches just don't seem to care. I'm grateful that DD still cares, but frustrated that no one else associated with the program seems to. Don't get me wrong-these are all good kids, and I really like the coaches as teachers and as individuals, but it just doesn't seem that they have any passion or excitement for softball. To give you a little bit of context, these are the same kids and coaches that won the second state volleyball title in a row and went to the playoffs in basketball this year. They're good athletes and good coaches when it's a sport they care about.

So, we take our lumps and move on. DD enjoys the time that she gets to spend with her HS classmates and friends, and I let her vent to me about her frustrations and I come on here and vent to all of you fine people about my frustrations. I'm grateful that DD still cares about this sport we all love even when those around her don't seem to. I'm grateful that she has a great TB team to look forward to playing all summer with. And I'm glad we're not alone. Some of your frustrations make ours seem silly.

Well, we got two more wins this week and clinched the #1 seed. Two more district wins and we will go undefeated in district play. Got some more good news this week too. We got our last injured player released to play after a surgery at the first of the year. She is a lefty with speed and power and a U of Kentucky commit. Hopefully, she will be back into the swing of things in a couple weeks when we start tournament play. I'm excited to finally see this team at full strength.

Well, weekend game was a L so we are now 6-5 for V. 3 games this week, but it may not go so well since our starting pitcher is starting to complain of shoulder issues due to being the only pitcher. DD1 made the mistake of telling the HC that she used to pitch, so she may be in the circle a few innings. She's not a pitcher, so we will see how this goes.

DD2 is off the injured list (line drive to knee while pitching), so hopefully she will get to pitch some innings this week, since the pitcher for her team, JH V, is complaining of shoulder issues due to pitching all the games.

Yes, the pitchers are being overused, see my "Pitchers being overused" thread for more of the story.

All games rained out yesterday. See if we get the game in today for HS JV. Playing a team that we run ruled last time, so hopefully we will get the W again. Lots of injuries on both JV and V though, so it will be interesting to see who will play on both teams.

DD 3 pitched again yesterday, and lost 7-6. She scored twice. First time at bat she walked, SB, SB, WP and scored. Second at bat laid a perfect bunt with runners at 1 and 2 to load the bases. Next batter got an RBI single, kept bases loaded. Next batter went over the fence, scoring DD 3 among others, 4 RBI.
She is now 3-3 on JV.
Her wins were 21 or 22-0, 14-3 and 11 or 12 -0. Total win margin of about 44 runs. In 2 of her wins she scored more runs than the opponents.
Her losses have all been by 2, 1, and 1 runs. Total loss margin of -4 runs.
So her team has scored 40 more runs than the opposition in her games, and she is .500

Weird how that works sometimes.

DD'S team is doing great. They are 18-3 with their 3 losses coming against schools with +2,100 students. Her school has 950. The girls are playing ball!

DD worked her way up the order from the 7 spot to the 3 hole then got demoted to clean up(she loves batting clean up). She has struggled on the mound. Way too wild, good velocity though lol.

6 more games and then back to travel!!
