12/10 - "Still Warm in Florida" Weekend Check In

We are off to compete hard as a 14U team playing in a very strong HS division this weekend for our last tournament of the year (we play Jan 6-8th for the final tournament for this team more before high school starts).

Should be educational (again). It was a great season - showcased in 14U (mostly - we did an open showcase as well), played in HS divisions when we were not showcasing. We have won some, lost more and thrown a way a few away. It has been fun and the girls have competed hard. Since most of them are about to start their high school careers, this has been very good for them all around.

Playing for grins in NSA State Tournament to keep girls active before HS season starts January 23rd.

Maddie's TB team is done with games for the year, so she was invited to play in a local toy drive tournament with patched-together team which includes 4 other girls from her TB team. Although they are 12U age, the tournament didn't attract enough 12U teams to create a separate division, so they are being added to the 14U division. One of the teams is a very good 14U TB team. All the others are rec all-star/select or teams like ours. I'm hoping to see Maddie get seriously challenged by some good 14U pitching. Coaches are hoping she continues to crush the way she has been recently.

Woke up to 2" of snow, school canx. youngest DD built a snowman family.

Time to setup the indoor batting cages this weekend.

Catching clinic in the morning tomorrow and then a 2 hour drive to meet DMIL for an afternoon of shopping. Sunday DD plays indoor league with her team.

Not much going on here in chilly Pennsylvania.

On a softball note...I'm working with my private coach on mainly catching and hitting drills getting ready for the high school season to start up in April. I've been doing a lot of softball shopping and getting myself a couple of palm guards, batting gloves and a few new bats.

On the home front...were getting ready for Christmas to come. I've been doing a bunch of Christmas shopping, listening to Christmas music, helping decorate the house and bake cookies. Plus our 2016 leg of the school year ends in a week and a half. So...I'm excited...now all we need is some snow on the ground and I'm set.

Nothing softball wise going on with us. Just some agility workouts DD is doing at home. DD had Senior pics Sat. They turned out really nice. She has Senior-idess bad. Glad when this semester will be over. Pre-HS warm ups start in Jan. I'm kinda ready to watch softball again.

Late chiming in...DD done for the 2016 year for softball. She's been quite busy with going to playoff games (football - made it to semis but lost this past Saturday), volunteering, parties (not that kind lol), applying for jobs and scholarships, studying for finals this week and retook both SAT and ACT last 2 Saturdays, so she's quite relieved to take a break from softball...probably would have had a meltdown by now.
