osagedr I would simply ask these assistant coaches that want to provide pitching advice "if they are getting paid $40 per hour to teach or if they pitched for a collegiate or professional organization" if the answer is no politely tell them you are investing too much time and money in her private pitching lessons to try and undo what she has been taught.

Now if you are really brave feel free to post a video and there will be plenty of folks that will let you know if she if going in the right direction or if she need to make any big changes maybe by the end of the season she can be knocking on that #1 spot ;)

I would be more forceful with the coaches but if there is a big disagreement and she is cut there are no other options for TB - the provincial (state) softball association mandates that there are four "A" teams in our city and the rosters are full starting in September through the following August. So argue with the coach, get cut, go waste a year dominating in B ball - would do it if it came to that but would prefer not to. At the end of the day the coaches are very autocratic in my opinion.

I am nowhere near brave enough to post a pitching video and it certainly isn't the case that she is perfect or doesn't have improvements to make...it's just that her "real" PC is the person best able to help her make those needed gains. It just seems incredibly arrogant to me for a non-pitcher HC to assume that hey, a PC is a PC and the team picked one so like it or lump it. So bizarre to me.

IMO, its the job of an org VP, who is also your DD's PC, to step up at this point (or much earlier) and set the record straight because either he or they are teaching the wrong way.

Late to post but your DD is old enough to to fend for herself. I agree with gunners post, not a fan of grin and ignore.

Wife or me will get involved if needed but it is on DD.

We have been lucky with pitching, leave her alone. Batting not so much.

Given the situation sounds like you are in for a long season of her smiling and nodding while ignoring the AC advice, which as I mentioned is going to be fine as long as she performs well. But the other poster had a point why doesn't the VP of the org just step in and say "hey that's my student, please don't change her mechanics without first coming to me" or what would happen if your DD said "my coach Mr. xxxx (I'm assuming everyone knows his name) is my coach and he said not to do that"

Also wanted to make sure that her PC is in fact making the right choices for her. Maybe that is actually the first question we should have been asking what advice is the AC giving and what advice is her PC giving before we just assumed who has your DD best interest at heart. If you have studied and been on the site long enough and feel you have a good handle on what is right then that's great but we probably shouldn't assume.

Great hitting coach in your opinion. The coaches viewpoint may differ.

Ok, well I should have said great hitting coach for her, that works for her and she is happy. I don't want anyone to mess with her because she is successful with his method.

He is also her catching coach and he has helped her develop into a very good defensive catcher.

Had our Friday night lesson with the "real" PC last week and he said he will be inviting the HC for coffee sometime during the holidays to discuss what we are working on. He also mentioned that he in fact used to coach the HC many years ago.

Hoping this will help smooth things over in a way that works out!

A month or so since I updated; here we are with about three months to go until season - not having to see team PC at this point and getting to work out with "real" PC twice per week. Took two full weeks off over the holidays plus another two weeks barely throwing so it is taking some time to get the rust off but things look not bad. Sent "real" PC some stuff from the model pitchers thread here, some stuff about Ricky and I/R - "real" PC (more or less HE proponent) basically said "Never heard of this guy and this approach makes no sense" so we are going to have to pick battles with respect to instruction moving forward.
