I forget every once in awhile but I usually edit out the sound. You just never know what's going to be said!

It is always interesting to listen to the chatter behind some plate from the games that are broadcast online. Microphone is not directional and pointed at the field, it is mostly picking up chatter behind the backstop.

I only wish, that I could actually listen to some of the things that I have been told were said. It would make some decisions so much easier.

I've picked up some very interesting conversations from behind the backstop......many things that needed to be edited out as they were malicious statements about players or coaches. Truly sad.

Most people are curious about the set up. I had on ump ask if I plan to use it protest his calls. Lol

Only once have I had a mom "ask" for us to turn off the video camera (we film every game). She saw the camera behind the backstop and literally left the bleachers and came out ONTO THE FIELD demanding in a very loud voice that we shut it off, because we were invading her daughter's right to privacy (in a public park). The coach later apologized, saying, "If you think that was bad, try dealing with her every day for an entire season."

I have been asked to not film a game by a team once last year (14U). The coach was concerned about the dissemination of the video images on the internet. I respected his concern and did not film the game. However, not sure what he's going to do at showcases if they ever get to that level.

I same an umpire crew that all had camera mounts on and running during every game they called this past weekend... They were not GoPros but still served the same purpose... I talked to one of the umps about them filming and he said it was the only way they could learn... He asked for a copy of my videos from the games they called and I asked for theirs... It is a pretty neat perspective to watch the game... Of course DD was pitching in one of them and kept looking over my shoulder saying "SEE, that was a STRIKE!"...

The only issue I've had is when a parent set it up on our side of the fence, obstuction get some of our views. That was during HS at the district tournament. Other than that, I could care less.

If it's obstructing the view it's not a very good place to mount anyway IMO. At least not the GoPro. I've started standing on a chair to mount it up high over people's heads. Great view that way and not in anyone's way.
