Bummed out that my 8u DD is done for the season. She was just really getting into it. Improving on everything in the field and making good friends with teammates. Now I see all the other league parents off doing Allstar tournaments and posting on Facebook. I just want to see her keep playing because it was a common thing with us.

Anyone else feel that way?

I understand where you are coming from. Now is a great time to get her into some softball camps, hit the cages and do some tunnel work. It helps take the sting off missing any game time.

So Cal
Play catch, hit/roll grounders, hit/throw fly balls, pitch to her (or set up a tee). At this age, the most important thing is reps. Important....KEEP IT FUN!

look around for tournament teams, some leagues make tournament teams for girls that didn't make all stars but want to keep playing.

There are a few in the area. We have her in a reading program during the summer so education first. I would have like her to do a camp just got to find one not during school.

I'm keeping the bucket of balls for the summer so I can do just that.

We couldn't get enough 8U players to form a team because of the travel. Looking around at the travel teams in the area, they start at 10U.

Look around for 1st year travel teams that will take 8YO's. In the first full season for my DD her team had 5 8U players in the starting lineup. They're out there.

Look around and even find a team she might be able to practice with. Or enjoy your summer because if you start TB some time you'll won't have another one for several years.

Truth.

We have a pool. We enjoy having friends and family over on the weekends to hang out and enjoy the pool with us. Two summers ago, we spent about a dozen days doing exactly that. Last summer, we had two. I'll give you one guess what the difference was. On a related note, my DD spent more time in hotel pools than she did our own.

I used to fish, a lot. There are a dozen lakes within a very short drive, all with fish. I winterized my boat three years ago and haven't unwrapped it since. I look forward to the future and being able to fish again. But, I don't want it to come too fast. I'm having the time of my life watching my kids play ball from my throne in the outfield.
