It's always fun to come on here and share in each other's DD triumphs and accolades. But how about those weekends when it seems that nothing goes right? DD had a great weekend in the field playing C and 3B, but her hitting was atrocious. She went 0-7 with one measly RBI, granted the pitching is so much better in 16U.. but nothing she can't handle. Just frustrating and at this age dad can't say anything constructive to make it better. She knows everything, right? I am doing my best to back off and let her own it. One bright note: On a change up, she stayed back just enough to take it hard foul just beyond the 3rd base dugout to "head hunt" an opposing team's mom keeping score on the fence line. I got it on video!!!

Any bad weekends to share?

Maximize that bright note and secretly laugh within.....unless DD is not around. Then, just keep it on a loop and scream "take that" over and over!

Well, lets see.. Traveled over 500 miles round trip spent 2 nights in a hotel I'm sure I seen on an episode of cops, spent somewhere north of $600 for the weekend, came home a day earlier than expected, got called to go to work on my day off and oh yeah got a speeding ticket.. DD played great though, so no complaints here.

I've found that 0-for-7 is no big deal - unless it's my daughter. :) She not only had a hitless tournament this summer, but two - in a row!

One way to look at it is to be glad she's facing pitching that can make her go 0-for-7. They need the challenge. If you never have an 0-for-7 skid, then you probably need to play at a higher level.

What started off with a homerun in first AB of first game, petered out for rest of weekend (I don't know counts but she had at least 3-4 strikeouts, 2 measly base hits). Pitching was up and down...slow going first game (came in as relief), great 2nd game (shut them out), and 3rd game was completely in rain and she got pulled (went in as relief and did not relieve!)...could not throw a strike for life of her. But she did redeem herself in first game of 2nd day...pitched entire game with off/on rain. They still lost 2-1 but still...much better performance (and I missed entire game because I couldn't get my snail-paced mom out of the hotel in time to see her play).

Oh, yea, my youngest DD had, probably, one of her worst days ever Sunday at the state tournament and it was extra embarrassing because all the coaches that she wanted to impress were in the audience. She did one thing right, she knocked in a run in a 5-4 victory. Other than that she struck out most ABs or hit easy pop flies to the infield. She starting pitching the second game but did not have her stuff. She gave up eight runs in two innings and then got pulled. Also, in the outfield she missed a fairly easy pop fly and didn't see too much action the rest of the way. By a near miracle, however, her team won the state championship!

Since it seems best with her, I pretty much didn't even say anything about her very bad day but if I had I would have said, "Some days you carry the team and some days they carry you. You've carried that team so many times and now they're paying you back. Congratulations state champion!!!"

I'm sorry, but once you hit a HR, that's a good weekend. :) I remember DD having a similar tournament last year. Opened w/ a HR, peetered out, but I don't trade in weekends that include a dinger. She doesn't hit that many. Especially now that she's facing better pitching and deeper fences.

It rained last weekend and our tournament was cancelled. So I wound up working in the yard. Does that count?

LOL but she has done way better. And the strikeouts were not norm. Coach saw more baseball swing this weekend so she's got stuff to work on.
