What is a College Futures ID camp?

DD and I went to a Prospect Camp last weekend. Two girls (that I know of) got offers there. The following day, we went to another camp, which was really more of an instructional clinic, and was obviously a waste of time and money for most of the players.

I just want to know whether a Prospect Camp and an ID Camp are the same thing.

Did a quick Google search for

"id camp" softball

Looks like several colleges are calling their camps "ID Camp" these days. If so, it's probably legit. Do some research on what college camps are about though. If your kid is in the half dozen the coach is interested in, or if she pitches 60+ or hits 250' bombs they'll get tons of attention. If not, they'll likely work with a player with a large group of other kids.

Just like the 50 'world series' and 'nationals' events and the billions of 'GOLD' and 'ELITE' and even 'ELITE GOLD' teams, there is no naming convention for any of this. So there is no real answer. Maybe they are the same - or maybe not.

People will call their event whatever they want in an attempt to attract more players/teams and make more $$$$. You have to do your research to decide if it is the right event for what you are looking for.
