My DD is already planning to tryout for one TB team soon since we know the coach. I just did some looking and their tryouts are scheduled for 8/10. There is another team doing tryouts at the same time at a different park for her age group, so that will exclude that team from our list. One other team in our area is holding tryouts 8/3. This is for the 10U age group.

My question is, is it considered bad form to attend multiple tryouts? The tryouts on 8/3 would likely have made their decisions on who they want to play with them by the time we would attend the 8/10 session, but I wouldn't feel right making a choice on either team until we got the chance to workout with them.

What is the appropriate way to handle this kind of situation?

I don't think so.

Many top tb players openly shop around in my area.

To be honest, there are some skilled tb players that move around allot because they are cancer cells and they go bring down another team after killing the one before. I like trying out for multiple teams just to avoid these cancer-cell hires......

Also you need to check with the teams your daughter is interested in playing with and see if they are holding open practices between now and their tryouts. Ask lots of questions and see if your daughters position is open, what are the teams plans on traveling, how much money does it cost to play, how many tournaments, etc.

It has to be a good fit and like RB said....watch out for the cancer! I prefer to call them viruses because they come and go:)

Agree on the open practices. You can learn a lot about the skill level of the team, but also how accepting the current team is. Also some times tryouts are mostly to show they are looking, but already have the players in mind. Talk to other parents to get a lay of the land without being too nosy. Remember too, that you are trying out too. Many teams look at parents as much as kids

Nope it's not a bad thing to attend different try-outs. In fact if your DD is interested in the team holding them at the same time, call the coach and see if they are holding another one or a private try-out. Be prepared for the "We would like her on the team" at the tryout. I would say let us talk about it and we will get back to you, if your interested in another team.

You should definitely attend multiple tryouts. You're shopping and the teams are shopping, too. What's considered bad form is attending a bunch of tryouts, accepting an offer from a team, and then jumping ship a month later.

Go see what's out there. Good luck!

My DD has been to multiple tryouts (3). 2 of the teams offered her a spot on the team before leaving the tryouts and the other is very interested but would like to do a 2nd tryout with her with all the coaches present (next weekend). My DD is declining one but is interested in the other that has made an offer. She is also interested in the team that wants a 2nd tryout. How do you handle the team that has already made an offer while you are waiting for the next tryout? DD doesn't want to lose the opportunity with the team that has already offered for a "what if" but also doesn't want to pass up on the potential "what if" team. So far she likes both coaches and orgs.

JNew0872. First, be honest with the coach from the team that offered. Tell him/her that your DD is very interested in their team but has another tryout with another team and you will give them an answer for sure on such and such date. Most coaches appreciate the honesty and will wait for that date. Don't be surprised though if early in the morning you get a phone call on the date you told them;)

Are you a gambler?

team A is unlikely to hold the spot if they come aross someone else they like while your waiting for another tryout.

What do you thin the chances are to make team B, what are the chnaces team B has someone else come along they like.

What is it about team B you like better than team A. Is it enough to risk ,osing the spot.

deciding on a team can be a real gut twister, we went through that 2 years ago but ended up on a team we love and have stayed with.
