Is there a difference between what tutoring bat should be purchased for an 8U player because the ball is softer I've been told that composite is no good for 8U girls fastpitch any input would be nice. You can email me at aclark3223@gmail.com
Thanks

I didn't think the ball was softer at 8u I thought it was just smaller 11" VS 12" As for bats imo just find a used good bat that still has good pop. cause in a few yrs when it really starts to count that's when you will want to pay for what you get.

If your using a softie type ball in 8U (which many Rec leagues do), I don't think using a composite bat really helps. The soft ball negates the effects of the bat materials. Getting the right size and weight is the key.

Our league uses the softie in Rec ball but a regulation 11" ball for All-Stars. On the All-Star circuit you typically see a lot of the Demarini CF Series Drop -11.

I do not know if I would buy a composite even if she used a hard ball. One of the regular members says an aluminum bat works better with the softer ball, IDK.

The Issue I see most often at this age is that the bat is bigger than the player, just get a bat that fits her OK. And as chinamigarden said, the right color.

The balls our rec league used were the same in 8u and 10u. We started out with an aluminum bat that matched their colors ;) We did get an older, secondhand Demarini when she was 8 though.

The rec league we came up through uses 10" RIF balls for 8U. This is typical for ASA leagues in CA. In my observations, composite bats were effective for reducing bat vibrations (yes, it happens even with the RIF balls).

The bat MAY be up for debate but saying "its comically to read through a thread talking tournament strategy, calling pitches, etc and then the last line is oh yeah this is 8U!"? You haven't been watching the 8u that I've been watching. There are a lot of really good 2nd or 3rd year 8u Gold players and teams out there. We (and most teams if not all) use time management in every game, give signs to every hitter, and call pitches for girls who throw more than one pitch....and there's a lot of them.
