This will be my first post on Discuss Fastpitch so i figured i might as well make the most of it. As a short introduction i can tell you that I grew up in country with ZERO baseball/softball culture and therefore it wasn't till a very late age that i feel in love with baseball during a trip to the US. When i came home to Denmark i tried looking for a place to play baseball but couldn't find it. Last year i then turned to softball and played my first ever competitive softball. It was amazing and i was hooked from day one.

Now its the off season and i am slowly getting the itch to play again. Therefore i am looking for some things i can do alone to keep in shape. Therefor i turn to you. Any good advice for what to do to stay in shape over the off season. It shouldnt be something too elaborate since A) This is rec league ball no need to turn me into Jose Canseco (A's era) :D. B)I have limited resources and time with college so there for simple things i can do.

Thanks for you help.

I definitely love simple, as well. For cardio, I think i can help with a few drills:

1. Criss-Cross: Use a piece of tape, shoe laces, whatever to make 4 squares on the ground, (so its a 2X2 grid, basically), With one foot, go counter clockwise, then switch and reverse; then go back and forth with one foot (just over one line), and side-to-side. Repeat with both feet. Then, with both feet, jump through all squares. Do each for 30 seconds.

2. Jump rope for 60 seconds at a time with really high speeds.
3. Find a bench somewhere and do steps: step one foot up, then the other, then one foot down, then the other - fast. Do for 1 minute intervals, at least 5 times

4. Stadiums are great, as well.

For skill workouts:

1. dry swings in front of a mirror
2. Tee work

Walk to track and run 1/2 mile

If you have a track you can start by 50m sprint (max speed) then jog the rest of the track then do this 3X/ 2-3x a week, increase reps weekly until you reach 6x reps

then do this on the field.. sprint from home to home then jog home to home..do this for 6x times 3x a week
after a week do this next: sprint from home to 2nd then jog 2nd to 2nd, then sprint 2nd to home, then
repeat then home to 2nd sprint - 6x/ 3x a week
after a week do this next: sprint home to first then jog 1st to home then sprint again to 1st 6x 3x a week

Make sure to have single leg squats or bulgarian squats and strengthen your core with planks, 3pt. and 2pt planks
