My DD is having some problems with her throw. None of her coaches can tell me exactly what she is doing wrong, just that she's not doing it right. I can't find anything really online to help her with her proper throwing technique. The only thing I really found was the Throw Max, which has good and bad reviews. Does anybody have any training aid ideas that could help her get down the right technique?

Austin Wasserman's throwing e-book is your answer

^^^^^^ what GM said above. Wow what a difference this book made in improving throwing mechanics. Learn the right way don't need any other stuff.

I had a kid who would never stay behind the ball with his hand, always had a 3-6 spin like a curve rotation, used hockey pucks to get the 6-9 rotation.

Third Wasserman. Just the water bottle drill made a huge difference in my DD's throwing.

Austin's e-book and videos are fantastic, it is the most well-thought-out and well-presented training "system" I've seen for any softball skill. The drill sequence is easy to follow and gets results -- forget about gadgets. He'll also answer your emails and even take a quick look at a video of your DD. Highly recommended.

(Tip: don't skip the somewhat wonky physiology stuff -- even for young kids translate it so they learn how their body works...it will pay off as they learn other skills like pitching or hitting which also are sequence-based and require an understanding of body mechanics. My two cents).

This thread caught my eye as DD 1 is in college pursuing PT which all started when she had elbow pain at 15. At the end of her own PT she was retaught how to throw and I took her sister to learn to prevent injury last year. This group fixes MLB players and she will be observing there over Christmas and asked to focus on throwing mechanics so that she'll have that in her future potential coaching toolbox. Sounds like there's a market for this :).

So Cal
I have helped a few players on my DD's 12U TB team improve their throwing significantly with the water bottle drill. Wasserman's stuff is as good as it gets.
