One tip would be to touch the front side of the bag
I have an 11 yo student, who is new to softball. Batting righty she hits the bag in 3.11 seconds. I have never seen a youngest that fast. Come to find out, it is in the genes. Her parents were both sprinters. LOL

Her footwork out of the box looks pretty good to me. DD is a 12 year old lefty slapper, and is around 3 seconds home to first with a stopwatch. She has been doing some extra work at home to knock off some time. She does short sprints in the yard, works with her ladder thingy, and does squats and box jumps a few days a week. Now she wants me to build her a push sled, so I suppose that's on my lengthy to do list.
