Arm injury update #5...Now a couple of hours post-op...still grogy

I am out of surgery. I'm currently laying in the recovery room, drinking tea and water while trying to get some liquids back into me. I'm still on painkillers from after the operation. We also met with the surgeon that did the operation and she said it was a complete success.i have two plates in my left arm along with 16 screws (I per plate. I also had my elbow scoped and she cleaned some ragged stuff in my elbow along with some bonespurs. I'll be in the hospital overnight. Then I'll stay in the rehab hospital at Temple Unuversity for about a week. I'm on the road to recovery...and i love it.

Gabby, I admire your strength and perseverance!! And you got braces yesterday too? Tough girl for sure! Hope your recovery is smooth and successful.

Thank you so much for your encouragement Maks. I've tried to stay strong through this and push my way through. I've cried sometimes on my way through this and wondered why? But I believe stuff happens for a reason and there is a bigger plan and bigger picture than what you see in front of you. As far as my braces...I didn't expect to get them the same day. We went in to the office at around 9. Since we were 15 minutes early, they just took us. They explained everything to us in detail. I am to be in them for the next 3.5 to 4 years. Also, they have me wearing a reverse pull headgear. It's really a simple looking device. It's a straight piece of metal with adjustable pieces. One where my forehead goes. One where the rubber bands coming out of my mouth goes and one where my chin goes. I wear it 8-12 hours mainly at night to correct my under bite. I'm not going to lie...my mouth hurts...literally kills but it'll be so worth it when I'm done. But I'm noticing the pain isn't as bad today. But yeah, I guess going through this, this summer will make me a tougher person.

Thank you for the prayers, Yocoach. I'll be back in catcher beast mode soon. My arm hurts post op. I'm not in a cast like I thought would...instead I'm in a hard splint wrapped in ace bandage and then I got something that looks like one of those leg braces that you wear when you have your knee operated on...but this is on my arm and it's locked in a 90 degree position. Plus I'm also in a sling. I'm guessing it's for extra support. I'm supposed to be getting out of the hospital at 12:30, going to get something to eat and then to the rehab hospital where I'll be for the next few days to a week where I guess I'll be going through some fairly intense rehab and then home and I return to the rehab hospital every other day until I'm cleared.

Thank you for your support, Eric. I'm ready to be out of the hospital and starting my rehab.

Good luck, I know it is hard but work hard and take your time. Do not rush it.

Thank you for the well wishes, Quincy. I have my parents, brother and sister here beside me here at the hospital. I'm about ready to be discharged. I'm ready to get started on my recovery. I'll take my time getting back but I'm going to push myself as hard as my body and surgery will allow.
