Have 9 yr old girl that's on the small side and hardly eats anything. Just wondering if there is a milkshake, snack bar, drink that would be packed with nutrition to make sure she gets what she needs. Chicken fingers is about all she'll eat. Any that maybe only one or two. She's so active she burns more energy than fuel she takes in. Any tips or suggestions appreciated.

If you are the coach, you need to make the parents responsible.

If you are the parent, we are working on the shakes with mixed results.

( DD seems to do Ok but I was really worried about her 1 game, not the coaches issue. DW and me are at all her games.)

Does she like peanut butter or pickles? Many marathon runners eat peanut butter sandwiches to help the muscles recover quickly and being packed with protein, they stay with them longer for lack of a better word. Pickles are high in electrolytes.

1. When my nephews were little, I'd watch them a couple of days a week. They were "picky eaters" according to my sister. Nuggets and Mac & cheese.
Well, after about a week, I figured out they were picky eaters because they were allowed to be. Amazing what kids will try when hungry enough and tantrums don't bother you.
2. Another option: go to a buffet. This way she can try small amounts of different things. The reward can be the nuggets...only she she tries three new things and swallows them.
3. Try protein milk. Core milk or Trumoo. At least there's a lot of protein,
4. Give her choice between some something tasty and something that is not so tasty as only options. Say choose between spaghetti or spinach. Funny how picky can become less picky.
5. Bribes work too.
6. Pediatric ensure has a lot of nutrition. Don't know what they taste like but it's worth a shot.
7. Get her involved in the cooking process

This is a sore point for us, maybe we are the worst parents in the world.

You just need to stay out of the way if you are a coach.

I am the parent, and just tired of fighting to get her to eat. She's a dang good ball player, but small. Talent wise she's as good as any, but with her size she's not as strong as majority. I've tried peanut butter, that worked for awhile, but now she's turned from that. Might try the clif bars.

Thanks for the help.

Does she like milk? We drink a lot of whole milk...it's a great source of vitamins and protein. Plus the kids like to flavor it with chocolate or strawberry. I think Pediasure makes a protein drink for kids, but I've personally never bought or tried them. A few years ago my boy choked on a cookie and refused to eat for a few days thinking he was going to choke again. I think he lived off of pudding, peanut butter, fruit cups, and milk for about 3 weeks.
