Put 2 cones beyond 1st. She is not allowed to slow down until she gets to the 1st one so that.one should be pretty close to the base, she needs to stop before she reaches the 2nd one.

(Two other things:
1) If she is going to do it a handful of times no reason to run 60’, 30’ should be fine
2) After her foot hits the bag she should be looking right. She is looking to see if the ball got away from the 1st basemen)

Note that this drill is the one drill that never varies in our set of running drills... initially we do it multiple times from 30ft and as the season progresses it goes down to twice from 60ft but it gets done every single practice... it needs to become routine for them... they will be doing this much more than rounding a base etc...

The one item I would add to Quincy's drill is to label the phase between 1st cone and second cone the "break it down" phase.... then use the verbal queues "go go go", "run it through", "break it down" to help them get the timing down...

Also, make sure their foot comes down on the front (not top or back of the bag), can make the difference is being safe on a close play. They should start "breaking down" immediately after taking a stride or two after hitting the bag.

I tell them that I can hear them. Step, step, step, steppedy, steppedy, steppedy. When it should be step, step, step, step......
