I am looking to work on speed with dd, so one of my favorite exercises are deadmill sprints. We have a treadmill at home and my daughter is pretty comfortable running on it and she has been running 1 1/2 on (she can run longer but she gets bored with it). Deadmills are sprints with the treadmill turned off. Some gyms actually have these where the resistance can be adjusted. I like these because you have to create the force to get the treadmill to move. Dead Treadmill Pushes (interval training) - YouTube
Our DD's travel team (U12) works two nights a week.
One night is conditioning and the other is a combo of hitting and fielding. The conditioning is both aerobic and anaerobic.
I also take her to a one hour lesson each week at a separate facility for fielding and hitting. She is a pitcher so we also take her for a one hour pitching lesson each week.
Strength and agility twice per week - 1 hour each session; pitching lesson x 1 hour once per week; hitting lesson x 1 hour once per week; then I rent a cage typically twice per week to have her pitch / hit. TB team practice once per week (hitting / fielding). She also plays middle school basketball and they either practice or have a game 5x per week. She's busy, but is dedicated.
My baseball players goes to a batting cage conveniently close to home. I hate it there though. It's really just cages. My softball player goes to a facility with a large open area, several smaller areas, and multiple cages. It gives a lot more options and her coaches are doing a lot of speed/agility/conditioning. They leave practice pretty worn out They do some infield and outfield drills when we get the large space for our team. Sometimes we don't and the drills have to be more contained. And they usually hit as well, sometimes with live pitching from our pitchers (on our weekend, longer practice), or off a coach. The one bad thing about that facility - no pitching machines.
personal trainer 2x per week (will drop back down to 1x when HS ball starts)
2 hours hitting session with TB team
1 hour hitting captains practice with HS team
some weeks have a 2 hour fielding practice with TB team
Her travel team has had indoor practice once a week from the beginning of January to the end of February. She also has a little training routine that she does 3 times a week while I am weight training in the basement. Weighted squats, box jumps, weighted sit ups, and push ups for a few rounds. After that she goes outside (no matter what the weather) and does some sprints, hurdles, and ladder work. In March her and I will start doing more together on fielding and hitting with more outdoor stuff and cage work.
