    Subtalar Dislocation of the ankle

Has anyone or their athlete had this type of injury?

I know what it is and I know that it is a pretty rare injury. Any type of information about recovery time, physical therapy, etc... would be appreciated.

Have seen several in clinincal practice. Impossible given the information to tell on recovery time particularly without knowing if there were/severity of possible posteromedial displacement and tears in the anterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ligaments. Any opinion here would be WAG. As always , ask the doctor and even then the opinion will probably be imprecise.

Thanks calgofo. We are waiting for a CT scan to learn of any soft tissue damage and will hopefully have that completed by tomorrow. DD has been instructed to do EXACTLY what the doctor orders, no questions, no rushing.

I am only wondering what others' experiences are.

BTW, injury occured on basketball court. Dislocation was closed. Reduction of dislocation was done at ER within 1 hour. Ankle is immobilized in a boot for minimum of 4 weeks with instructions to put NO weight on it for the 4 weeks.

    DD hates wheelchairs!
