Rise Ball Camps and Clinics
DD attended the Rise ball High Achievers camp this weekend in NJ. What an experience. Players from Canada, CA, TX, FL and a host of other states. Coaches from Princeton, Cornell, Georgetown, Holy Cross, Williams Lehigh, TCNJ, Dartmouth, UMass, St Johns and Harvard working with the girls. About 75 girls in attendance with about 15 coaches and assistants. Covered receiving, footwork, throwing, catchers, pitchers and IN breakouts. Batting and base running. Parents were allowed to observe closely, listening in and taking notes. Players took notes too. There were about 6 coaches observing each scrimmage and stopping play to correct or point out things to the players. DD (2017) got to face a senior throwing mid 60's. Fouled one back and chased a riseball going about 62 for the K. She did Dbl to the fence off the second pitcher who was only throwing in the mid 50s.
They even took questions from parents about how they recruit what works for them and what they'd like to see and hear from the players.
They did say don't spend money on professional videos and don't splice together the video after each catch or throw. They said they figured you edited out the bad stuff when they are that way. When you email them include the link to the You Tube video not over 5-7 minutes and don't send them a dvd or tape.
Playing multiple sports vs one was preferred and they'd rather see you at their camp if they have one for a few days vs seeing you at a tourney for 15 minutes.
Ivys won't commit until you pass acceptance with grades and test scores.
If your kid has a desire to attend this type of college this is an excellent format and very instructional. I would recommend the Rise ball camp. They appear to do two camps in the summer and will have another session in Nov. Here is their link. Rise Ball Camps & Clinics
Last, there were about 15-20 coaches there not working the camp but there to observe prospects.
