BIG THUMBS DOWN to ASA and Watertown WI for surprising everyone coming to the ASA northern nationals with a $35 park/field entry fee.

What a raping from an event i have never had to pay for before at the event.

It's not the money necessarily but the principle on the surprise rape.

See if i spend $1 at yer concessions.......

I hear you. My nephew was playing a 4-day water polo tournament last weekend. $15 per day or $45 for a tournament bracelet.
I guess that's not horrible but considering we were visiting and coming to watch one match shelling out $80 for the family to get in seemed a bit steep.

I think OP should consider themself fortunate because gate fees are common at ASA/USA nationals. The parking fee seems unusual.

It's like the old ad slogan - "You can pay me now - or you can pay me later."

Events w/ gate fee (prices are for whole tournament pass):
18-A ASA Northern - $450 team entry fee + $20/adult + $15/car

18-A ASA/USA (AL) - $400 + $40/adult

16-A ASA/USA (VA) - $550 + $40/adult

Events w/o gate fee:
14-A ASA/USA (CA) - $1,050

16-Gold (OK) - $1,100 w/ 5gg

18-Gold (OK) - $1,200 w/ 5gg

Interesting. In about an hour, I will pick up DD from a softball skills session. One of the girls at the session plays on a team (Bandits) that was at the Watertown tournament. Maybe I can get some feedback. Or not.

The most I ever had to pay was $5 for a pass at a USSSA tournmanent in Mauston, WI, but those were really incredible facilities.

EDIT-- Stupid of me. I just looked and saw the tournament is in progress. I doubt the Bandits girl will be at a practice in Madison and at the same time at a tournament in Watertown, although stranger things have happened.

Now I feel even stupider. SOME of the Bandits teams may be in Watertown now, but not all of them. I ran across a girl from the Bandits right after the last post. (Hard to miss, with her Bandits t-shirt). She said she wasn't in a tournament today, and looked at me like I was crazy for suggesting she should be in one. But, but but the schedule said the Bandits team was at the tournament!

We are the Bandits 18U team and we were definitely there.

So we are coming off the heels of the Northern Nationals being in Rochester MN last year and surprise park and daily fees were ZERO $$....

I am typically the last one to speak up for a facility, especially one that is charging this much. However, I would speak to your HC. They apparently dropped the ball communicating with the parents and players.

Tournaments | Watertown Girls Softball Section / Tournaments

Select Player Info which is the team packet they were provided. Although pretty high, it should not have been a surprise.

Ya it's in that "fine print",...no doubt,...buyer beware......

Of course everyone in this country could get jammed by "fine print" in any one of the engagements we get into in life.

I stand by my gripe 100 percent where ya don't go one year from $0 to the next at $35. If ya need more money put the darn additional needs into the overall tourney cost. Why jam folks later...? (lots of people did not read the $35 fine print INCLUDING family/friend fans that want to come see - now of which will not to avoid that surprise cost to them - meaning less folks in the stands and overall dollars from concessions and to the surrounding city etc.... I feel it's just un-smart business-wise)

I certainly see your point.

It shouldn't be more expensive to watch an amateur softball game than to watch major league baseball. You can get cheap seats at the Brewers for less.
