I guess my broader question is: On a judgement call (which can't be appealed by the coach), if an umpire cites some kind of non-rule-based meme as the reason for the judgement call, does that now bring an coach's appeal back into play?
Another example might be if a 1st base umpire called a runner safe at 1st on a close play and yells out "tie goes to the runner" (not a rule), is that now a decision that can be appealed by the coach?
The called bunted-3rd-strike in my game likely didn't affect the game, btw. I think we were down 7-0 at the time and it didn't get any closer
