In a game yesterday a runner was awarded home on a walk. as she approached home plate she bent down to pick up walked batter's bat and stumbled over home plate actually never touching home plate.

What is the right call and can defense appeal run scored. HC and I did not saying at time of play because did not know if it was appealable.

Depending on what rule set you were playing under would make a difference in if the runner from 3rd was considered to have been awarded home or not. In ASA, only the batter/runner is awarded a base on a walk, all other runners are merely advanced a base without liability to be put out if forced by the award to the batter/runner. NFHS and USSSA on the other hand consider all runners forced by a walk to be awarded bases.

But, regardless of if the runner was considered to be awarded the base or not the rules in all rule sets still require runners to legally run all bases, even awarded bases. Yes the runner from 3rd missing home plate was an appealable situation and it could have been appealed immediately after the base was missed. A walk is a live ball situation and would be no different than if the runner has missed home on batted ball.
