Bases loaded, batter hits ball of end of bat and it rolls slowly to 1st base side of pitcher. 1st base and pitcher converge with 1st grabbing ball. Meanwhile runner on first runs into 2nd baseman as she is standing in baseline doing nothing half way between 1st and second. Umpire calls runner out. Said runner impeded 2nd base chance to get to first for throw yet she wasn't moving in that direction. Correct?

Nope, absolutely not correct call. A fielder not in the act of fielding a batted ball nor in possession of the ball may hinder a runner. And, if more than 1 player is attempting to field a batted ball, the umpire must chose which one has the best chance and they are the only player protected of committing obstruction.

Based on all the apparently uneducated umpires you all seem to get you really need to learn to use the word protest. No, judgement calls cannot be protested, but when a rule is completely missapplied or missinterpreted it is a protestable situation.
